What is Awana?

Awana is a Bible-centered discipleship ministry for children and students. Its name comes from the phrase “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” based on 2 Timothy 2:15.

At our church, Awana combines biblical teaching with relationships, Scripture memory, small-group discussion, games, arts & crafts, and special events. It is designed to help children understand who God is, what the Bible teaches, and how faith in Jesus shapes our daily life.

Our goal is not simply for children to complete a handbook or earn an award. We want them to know the truth of God’s Word, experience the care of a Christian community, and take meaningful steps in their personal faith.

What will my child learn?

Awana helps children build a foundation for lifelong faith. Throughout the year, children are invited to learn about:

  • God’s character, love, holiness, faithfulness, and grace.

  • Jesus Christ—His life, death, resurrection, and invitation to follow Him.

  • The Bible as God’s trustworthy Word.

  • Salvation and the good news of the gospel.

  • Prayer and how to talk with God.

  • Christian character, including kindness, truthfulness, forgiveness, courage, and service.

  • How to apply biblical truth to friendships, choices, family life, school, and challenges.

Children may ask honest questions. We want them to know that questions are welcome and that trusted leaders are available to listen and talk with them.
